Trick, Treat, and Beach: Laguna's Top Neighborhoods for Halloween Fun

Ghost, goblins, witches, candy, costumes, and fun. That’s right — it’s that time of year again where you get to dress up however you like, knock on strangers doors, and get free candy!

Whether you’re new to town or have lived here for eons, we’ve put together a little guide of the best goodie hotspots for a safe, successful, and downright spooky year of trick-or-treating.

Brooks & Oak Street

Known for attracting the biggest crowd on Halloween night. We don’t know when or how this happened, but hundreds of Trick-or-Treaters flock to these two streets and literally shut down the roads. In the past there’s been haunted houses and lots of parties going on for both kids and adults. It can be a bit overwhelming for younger kids with some scary costumes and decorations so make sure you know what your little one can handle. *Some locals recommend bringing a bag of candy to donate to the houses on this street because it costs them a small fortune.

South Laguna Village Green Park

A smaller community gathering, families around the neighborhood with younger kids meet for a pizza party (donations are appreciated) and walk around the neighborhood before it gets too dark out. It’s very low key and easy if your kids are under six-ish. Not all houses will have candy, but most will have some type of treats!

Lower Three Arch Bay

Kids of all ages come to this private community. With a gate guard and security it’s extra safe… plus, there’s even rumors they give out king-sized candy bars!

Top of the World

You’ll have to drive up a big hill to get there but this also means there are less cars driving around. And it’s one of the only neighborhoods on the list with actual sidewalks.

Your Own Neighborhood

Always start trick-or-treating in your own zone! It will make your neighbors’ nights to see your kids in costume, and they’ll probably give extra candy for the laugh! (Robert England, aka: Freddie Kruger from Nightmare on Elm Street was my neighbor growing up so that was always a good door to knock on if you were brave enough!)

Trick-or-Treating Tips:

1 | Always stay in groups. Make sure at least one adult is supervising.

2 | Bring flashlights with fresh batteries if you’re going to be out past dark.

3 | Plan which routes you want to take.

4 | Only go to homes with lights on and Halloween decorations. Lights out means no-go.

5 | Don’t let your kids eat any candy before you check it first.

6 | Wear comfortable shoes.

7 | Always say thank you!
