Get Fit (and Have Fun) with Personal Trainer Webb Travis

Webb Travis wants you to know that there’s no magic pill for getting healthy. It takes time, discipline, education -- and a little more time.

“It takes the human body four to six weeks to start adapting to any workout and nutrition plan,” explains Travis. “What happens is we get impatient and after five days of going to the gym and eating more veggies than an animal farm, we want that instant gratification. So people fall off and move on to the next diet trend -- only to have that not work either, and it continues.”

Travis is a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach based in Laguna Beach. He has been training clients for over 14 years and is experienced in everything from precision nutrition to pre and post-natal training programs.

His journey started at Equinox, where he was a personal trainer for nearly nine years. Progressing quickly, he became one of the luxury gym’s top trainers company-wide, teaching up to 20 classes and training up to 60 clients per week in addition to sticking to his own fitness regimen. However, he made the decision to venture out on his own in August of 2018.

“The only part I enjoyed was seeing my clients and teaching my group classes,” admits Travis. “I decided I didn’t want to do anything that was going to make me unhappy anymore. Life is too short and my time is a resource.”

Travis approaches coaching from a holistic view, and tends to attract clients who want to get healthy and lean (while still having fun).

From goal-setting and injury history to nutrition planning and ergonomic training, Travis utilizes information to create a customized training program tailored to each client, also taking into account their own goals, body types, and lifestyles. His aim is to equip his clients with the tools they need to be self-sufficient and self-disciplined on their fitness journey.

Currently Travis is staying busy with the launch of his new corporate wellness program “The Executive Athlete,” which will be available for small and large businesses across Orange County with the goal of creating healthy habits among employees to help them live more active, health-filled lives.

For anyone looking to jumpstart their fitness journey, but aren’t sure where to start, the trainer and entrepreneur says there are a few small things you can add to your daily routine that will have you feeling healthier and more awake in just a few weeks: drinking two to three liters of water per day, eating four to six small meals within a 12-hour window, and getting between seven to eight hours of sleep per night. Making these your habits will set you up for success in the long run, and will make taking that first step to a healthy lifestyle a lot easier to do.

“Change is good, and it’s okay to become uncomfortable while on this journey,” explains Travis. “If we never challenge ourselves with change, whether in our workout routines or food choices, we will always plateau and stay stagnant. Change your food, change your routine, and remember that it’s okay to ask for help.”
