Bright Bread Co. Delivers Hand-Baked Bread Directly to Your Door

Bright Bread Co

Bright Bread Co. started on May 2nd amidst COVID-19, but its origins began much earlier than that. 80-year-old Mrs. Bright, whom the company is named after, is the baker and grandmother of the three generations of women that make up the family business. Growing up on a farm in South Africa, Mrs. Bright learned the art of baking bread from her own mother as a young child -- a skill she has since perfected over the course of her next 70 years.

“My house has always been a bakery, since like the beginning of time, and anyone that knows us knows that we make great food,” says Chloe Zakhour, who is the eldest of Mrs. Bright’s three granddaughters and a marketing force behind the company. So when her mother was laid off from her job at the beginning stages of the pandemic, the tight-knit family began pooling their skills to make a business from Grandma’s famous recipes, whilst in quarantine.

Chloe, age 23, attends the University of San Diego where she studies communication and manages the University’s Instagram account. “I know a bit about social media, and my sister knows a bit about marketing, so we all put our efforts in one space and just started it,” she explains.

And it worked. Within weeks they had created a steady social media buzz, and are getting new clients daily.

Whether it’s marketing and social media, baking or hand-delivering the still warm bread to your doorstep, each lady of Mrs. Brights brings a unique and essential set of talents to the table.

The secret is simple. Bright’s bread is created with only five ingredientS, compared to the laundry list of Preservatives that make up most breads sold in stores.

It’s the unique two-hour process in which Grandma Bright prepares and bakes the bread that makes it impossible to duplicate. The bread is baked in the family’s home oven and goes straight from there to your doorstep, delivered by one of the bright-eyed Brights — complete with a warm smile under a mask (and an even warmer loaf in hand).

They sell white, wheat, raisin, and banana bread, and can all be specially ordered to be made gluten-free and vegan. Currently, @BrightBreadCo’s Instagram is the best way to place an order. Delivery is included in South Orange County from San Clemente to Irvine. If you’re specifically in Dana Point, pop by Monarch Beach Market who has recently started stocking their shelves with Bright’s fresh and savory goodness.

Grandma Bright, at the young age of 80, is finally getting her wish to have her own business and share her famous recipes... and the local community is just as thankful for their makeshift quarantine gram as they are for the mouth-watering bread on their countertops.
