A New Kind of Wellness Space Just Landed on Coast Highway

Emma Ayote and Chad Brown, founders of OC House of Healing wellness studio in Laguna Beach

If you've been paying attention to what's happening in recovery and wellness right now, you already know that infrared sauna, cold plunge, and red light therapy are no longer niche.

They're becoming part of how many health-conscious people take care of themselves, whether that's after a hard workout, a stressful week, or just in an effort to feel more like themselves.

What's been harder to find is a place that does all of it well, in the same place, with the kind of attention to detail that actually makes you want to go back.

House of Healing just opened at 30818 Coast Hwy, right across from Montage Laguna Beach, and it's already making a quiet impression on the people who've found it.

The Story Behind Its Founders

The founders are Emma Ayotte and Chad Brown, and they didn't come into this as a business opportunity. They came through it out of necessity.

Emma grew up in Redondo Beach in a household where wellness was just the baseline: organic food, an active lifestyle, an innate awareness of how the body works. A few years ago, after coming off hormonal birth control, she was diagnosed with PCOS and went through a difficult stretch. Hormonal imbalances, weight changes, acne, and physical injuries including a labral tear and bone spurs. Conventional medicine wasn't giving her answers, so she started rebuilding from a different angle.

Chad had been working as a health coach, with a deep understanding of how the body functions and what it actually needs to recover. Going through Emma's healing journey together shaped what they believed and what they eventually wanted to build.

Getting Started

The name came first, actually.

"House of Healing" was the only name they ever considered, and it stuck immediately because it captured exactly what they wanted to build: not just a studio, but something that feels like a home.

A place where people can come to reset, feel safe, and reconnect with themselves. Healing looks different for everyone, and the name had to hold all of it.

When the time came to choose a location, Laguna wasn't a calculated decision. "It was more intuitive than strategic," Emma says. The energy here, the proximity to nature, the sense of community.

They credit Laguna itself with playing a role in their own healing, which makes building something here feel like more than business. It feels like the right place.

What You'll Find Inside House of Healing

Walk in and the first thing you'll notice is how calm it feels. That's entirely on purpose.

Emma worked with her close friend Jacqueline on the interior as a passion project, and every decision was intentional: the clean, minimal design, the 100% organic cotton towels, the filtered water. These aren't afterthoughts. They're part of why the space feels the way it does before you've even started a session.

The menu of services covers a variety of offerings:

INFRARED SAUNA is the anchor of the space.

Unlike a traditional sauna, infrared works by warming the body directly rather than heating the air around you, which means a deeper sweat at a more comfortable temperature. People come in after workouts for muscle recovery, for stress relief, and for the kind of deep heat that's hard to replicate anywhere else. The sauna rooms are private and thoughtfully done.

COLD PLUNGE THERAPY has become a staple in serious recovery routines for good reason.

The practice of moving from heat to cold, what's known as contrast therapy, has been gaining real traction for its effects on circulation, inflammation reduction, and energy levels. House of Healing is one of the few spots in Laguna where you can do both back to back in a single visit.

RED LIGHT THERAPY is the quieter offering, but it's one with a growing body of research behind it.

The panels emit red and near-infrared wavelengths that support skin health, reduce inflammation, and assist with cellular recovery. Sessions are simple. The benefits compound over time.

Beyond the three core modalities, House of Healing also offers health optimization coaching for one-on-one support that looks at the full picture of how someone is living and feeling (not just a generic protocol), and lymphatic facials for a natural, circulation-focused result.

Who it’s For

Emma and Chad are clear that this isn't built for one type of person. The athletes who need to recover faster. The professionals who are running on fumes. The people who want to feel better in their bodies and just need a place to start. The common thread is wanting more out of how they feel day to day, and actually doing something about it.

Memberships and How to Book

House of Healing offers both unlimited and limited monthly memberships. On the unlimited side, options range from $300/month for infrared sauna access to $600/month for the Limitless Membership, which covers unlimited sauna, cold plunge, and red light therapy. If you want to ease in first, limited session packages start at $70/month for three cold plunge sessions, with other modalities priced comparably.

It's a solid range whether you're going to make this a daily habit or show up a few times a month and still feel the difference.
