Divine Feminine: Dressing the Modern Day Goddess

Jenn Mellon, designer and founder of Divine Feminine, is transforming the fashion industry with her stunning, spiritually-infused dress line that sets out to empower women, rather than make them feel like they are lacking in the seemingly perfect world of fashion.

“Divine Feminine is about dressing the modern goddess,” gushes Mellon. “It’s all about activating and awakening the feminine in today’s culture.”

Having spent over a decade in the fashion industry running a talent agency and modeling, the designer grew tired of seeing ad industries pumping out images of unattainable ideals of beauty. “It’s shoved in our faces from such a young age,” shares the designer. “The underlying message being, ‘This is who you need to be, and in order to be this person you have to buy this thing.’”

After having two daughters and realizing what a huge impact the industry has on young minds, she swore off the fashion industry for good... or so she thought.

During a week-long silent retreat at her home without any distractions or outside input, Mellon was struck by divine inspiration. Expecting to get clarity on another project, she instead received repeated messages and signs about Alexandria, Egypt, and the gorgeous gowns its women once wore.

“When your heart and soul is drawn to something so inexplicably it’s basically your soul saying, ‘Pay attention!’ Instead of resisting, I leaned in,” she remembers. When she discovered that there was nowhere to get ahold of these dresses in our modern culture, she knew she wanted to be the one to bring them to the States.

With zero design experience, the entrepreneur taught herself literally everything about running a business -- from creating her own website to art directing photo shoots. “It’s a daily labor of love,” she laughs. “It’s fashion on my terms. I’m making my own rules, and it feels amazing.”

Mellon’s dresses are meant to be timeless heirloom pieces to be worn and kept forever, with each dress representing the four aspects of the feminine: the Lover, the Warrior, the Sage, and the Queen.

Sewn mindfully with love in Los Angeles by a warrior seamstress, every gown comes with a mantra infused with good energy and sayings like, “My intuition is guiding the way” or “My softness is my strength.” Made from fabrics that include 100% cotton gauze and luxe charmeuse, you will want to live in these gowns -- and with only 250 pieces total, once these dresses are gone, they’re gone.

“Divine Feminine gowns evoke a type of femininity -- it’s not over sexualized, it’s not overly masculine, but it’s not denying beauty and femininity either,” explains Mellon. “It’s this perfect blend that you could wear barefoot in the dirt with leather sandals, or you can put on gold jewelry and walk into a room feeling like a goddess.”

Along with her gorgeous designs, Mellon felt women needed a space to gather and remember their true nature. She has since turned her background into a dreamy retreat space that hosts women wanting to experience ancient rituals. Not only does she share her own medicine of healing with women, she also invites other healers to come share theirs as well. Past events have included a tea meditation with Shiva Rose, a medicine circle with Mama Medicine, a gua sha beauty ritual workshop with Wilding Beauty, an astrological forecast by Alchemy, and a healing sound bath with Amber Lee, amongst many others.

Mellon is a force who believes in the spirit of women collaborating, sharing with deep gratitude that without the help she’s received from like-minded feminine energy, her brand wouldn’t be what it is today.

Divine Feminine isn’t just another fashion brand, it’s a high vibe expression of the feminine divinity that doesn’t only change the outward appearance, but also shifts how women feel inside. It truly is about activating, awakening, adorning, and empowering the modern day goddess.
